Fancy winning an iPad mini with M8 UK?

Yes.......you read that correctly - fancy winning an iPad mini with M8?

With the Easter holidays almost upon us, here at M8 HQ we’re stocking up on Easter eggs and discussing our most memorable Easter holidays in the UK.

Whether a lengthy car or train journey en route to enjoy a day at the beach, a weekend in the Scottish Highlands or a fortnight’s holiday in Devon, the Easter holidays for us are all about hanging out with friends and family, exploring the UK, often experiencing minor disasters along the way, and most definitely not letting the Great British weather dampen our spirits! Nearly all of us recall some sort of trip and we’ve heard some absolutely cracking stories!

It’s made us want to hear about your most memorable Easter holidays and w
e’ll be rewarding the best tale with a super prize - an iPad mini! Yes, that perfect little tablet to take with you on your travels!
So what are you waiting for?! All you need to do is like our Facebook page and submit a comment below. Post your disastrous, hilarious, heart - warming and plain ridiculous stories - we want to hear about them all!

Remember to tell us who you are & where you're from - and we'll announce the winner on April 8, 2013.
One of our team came forward with this cracking memory:

"Our whole family had gone away for the weekend and, with so many of us packed into two cars (including dogs), unfortunately poor Granny was left behind after a fantastic Easter lunch at a pretty country pub in the Lake District. We only noticed after 3 hours on the road when we stopped to stretch our legs! Needless to say my parents weren’t best pleased, but when we finally got back to the pub we found Granny sitting quite happily at the open fire watching the world go by. “I knew you’d realise and come back eventually. Look. Now, it’s nearly tea time, shall we stay for dinner? We can’t travel on empty tummies.” she said.

This is one of our most remarkable Easter holiday memories - but what are yours?
Sat nav send you to Scotland via Cornwall?
Car end up in a muddy ditch?
Dog ate the family picnic?

The more extraordinary, the better! We’ll be chatting about it on Twitter and on our M8 Facebook page using #EasterM8, so come along and get involved in the conversation!

Cheers! M8 and the in-app The Good Pub Guide offer for a limited time only!

Phew - it’s almost the weekend AND it’s nearly St. Patrick’s Day!

Now we recognise how hard the good people of the UK work, so we thought you deserved a little treat when it comes to the “rest and play” (to use a catchphrase of a very famous and tasty chocolate bar) part of life.

We thought and thought and thought about it.... and think we’ve come up with the PERFECT little promotion for you guys!

Having had such a fantastic response to the Good Pub Guide feature we integrated into M8 at the start of the year, we’re very pleased to announce that M8 users will be able to purchase the Good Pub Guide through the M8 app for the very special price of £2.99 - an absolute bargain!

For a limited time only, the Good Pub Guide is available at the discounted price, but it’s a one-off, in-app purchase so once you have it in the bag, then you keep it! You’ll have access to the Good Pub Guide and the wealth of information, recommendations and reviews that it provides as a best selling travel guide in Britain.

Fully integrated into the M8 app available for iOS, Android and BlackBerry Touch devices, the Good Pub Guide feature contains all content from The Good Pub Guide 2013 - that means that it’s full of ideas, totally up to date, accurate and won’t send you on a wild goose chase to a pub that’s sadly turned off its beer pumps.

From the Good Pub Guide icon on the M8 app homescreen, you can search for pubs near to your GPS location, or you can explore pubs a little further afield by searching by town, county or postcode. The "worth a visit" and "Top Pubs" features are also handy if you’re in need of inspiration. Also, if you know what you’re looking for but need a little more information, you can search for a specific pub by name. We’ve even included "all you need to know" - great for checking out opening hours, awards, live entertainment and that sort of thing.

So there you have it, go forth and explore the UK with M8 and the Good Pub Guide - you’re saving yourself £1 so you can buy yourselves an extra packet of scampi fries, pork scratchings, peanuts, or whatever your bar snack of choice may be!

Head on over to Facebook and Twitter to tell us about your favourite pubs in the UK, and if M8 has helped you to discover any cool bars, cosy pubs or local boozers.

*Don't be silly, please enjoy pubs responsibly

M8 and the Michelin Guide - a recipe for success!

We kicked off 2013 with a few updates aiming to make all of you ‘Connoisseurs of Good Food and Drink’ go weak at the knees and champing at the bit to get out there and explore all that the UK has to offer! We looked at the addition of the glorious Good Pub Guide to M8 in our last post, so now we turn our attention to the MICHELIN Guide and discover what this recently added feature might have to offer our M8 community.

Far from being a guide that exclusively recommends UK restaurants that most of us would have to remortgage our homes to be able to afford a bowl of soup in, the MICHELIN Guide is committed to uncovering the very best and highest quality - to use a phrase adored by the great Gregg Wallace and John Torode of Masterchef UK fame - “plates of food” that the UK has to offer. Simple.

Introduced by famous tyre manufacturers MICHELIN to encourage France’s first leisure motorists to make more road trips - and go further afield so they might need to renew their tyres quicker (!) - the MICHELIN guide has been helping foodies and travellers the best places to eat and sleep across the globe since 1900.

Committed to seeking out and independently reviewing every type of establishment serving meals and refreshments to customers - everything from hotel dining rooms, country inns, fine dining restaurants or cosy guest houses - the information held within the MICHELIN guide is perfect for any foodies embarking on a UK road trip. In fact, the recommendations detailed in the guide are a great help to anyone looking for a decent meal! Here at M8 we want everyone to have access to the most valuable local knowledge available, and as we know that sharing meals is one of the greatest and most popular pastimes for thousands of you, it was a no brainer to get the MICHELIN guide involved in our app!

From within M8 - whether you’re on an iPhone, Android or BlackBerry Touch device - you can discover all of the restaurants found in the most up to date version of the MICHELIN guide 2013. Making sure you find the tastiest meal around, M8 users can search by restaurant category or by price. See something you fancy? You can check out the diner reviews and ratings, and find all-important contact or location details. Foodies travelling in the UK and researching options are really spoiled for choice with M8!

From the information and ratings offered by the MICHELIN Guide and Good Pub Guides through to the integrated reviews and recommendations of Trip Advisor, Yelp & Lonely Planet, M8 has everything you need to plan a special meal, grab a quick bite, or discover a gourmet hideaway. M8 - a recipe for success for UK foodies!

So there you have it folks, lots of great content to fuel your imagination for the weekend! Enjoy, and tell us @localm8 all about any tasty treats or tipples you come across!
