Fancy winning an iPad mini with M8 UK?

Yes.......you read that correctly - fancy winning an iPad mini with M8?

With the Easter holidays almost upon us, here at M8 HQ we’re stocking up on Easter eggs and discussing our most memorable Easter holidays in the UK.

Whether a lengthy car or train journey en route to enjoy a day at the beach, a weekend in the Scottish Highlands or a fortnight’s holiday in Devon, the Easter holidays for us are all about hanging out with friends and family, exploring the UK, often experiencing minor disasters along the way, and most definitely not letting the Great British weather dampen our spirits! Nearly all of us recall some sort of trip and we’ve heard some absolutely cracking stories!

It’s made us want to hear about your most memorable Easter holidays and w
e’ll be rewarding the best tale with a super prize - an iPad mini! Yes, that perfect little tablet to take with you on your travels!
So what are you waiting for?! All you need to do is like our Facebook page and submit a comment below. Post your disastrous, hilarious, heart - warming and plain ridiculous stories - we want to hear about them all!

Remember to tell us who you are & where you're from - and we'll announce the winner on April 8, 2013.
One of our team came forward with this cracking memory:

"Our whole family had gone away for the weekend and, with so many of us packed into two cars (including dogs), unfortunately poor Granny was left behind after a fantastic Easter lunch at a pretty country pub in the Lake District. We only noticed after 3 hours on the road when we stopped to stretch our legs! Needless to say my parents weren’t best pleased, but when we finally got back to the pub we found Granny sitting quite happily at the open fire watching the world go by. “I knew you’d realise and come back eventually. Look. Now, it’s nearly tea time, shall we stay for dinner? We can’t travel on empty tummies.” she said.

This is one of our most remarkable Easter holiday memories - but what are yours?
Sat nav send you to Scotland via Cornwall?
Car end up in a muddy ditch?
Dog ate the family picnic?

The more extraordinary, the better! We’ll be chatting about it on Twitter and on our M8 Facebook page using #EasterM8, so come along and get involved in the conversation!

  3. I was ten years old and during the Easter holidays I went to stay in the country with a school friend who had moved away. Her father was a minister and so I was very conscious I should behave nicely. My friend and one of her sisters and brother went out for a walk and decided to take a short cut through a field. Half way through we realized the grass had petered out and there was only clumps of grass interspersed with mud where pigs had been the day before. Everyone got to the other side but being shorter I was having difficulty with the last bit. My friend reached over to help pull me over and said jump. I tried but realized I was going into the mud - and managed to pull her in with me. We both fell flat and were plastered from head to foot in this evil smelling stuff. When we got back to her home her mother was horrified but didn't tell us off luckily. My holiday also covered April Fools Day - her brother was discovered with a bowl of frogspawn covered in milk trying to persuade her toddler sister that it was tapioca. It's a holiday I will never forget.

  4. Last Easter camping in france for 7 days with a son who does not like to poo away from home. He finally exploded in the middle of the night and in his rush to get to the toilet clambered over the rest of us in our sleeping bags pooing on us as he went. Smelt lovely the next day in our tent

  5. My easter holidays was suppose to be great, sunshine and lots of fun... instead it was torrential rain leading to a £2000 bill!
I was bought a car by my parents for passing my test, a brand new corsa (7 years ago when I was 19) and for easter we were suppose to be going on a little weekend trip away. I got as far as 6 miles from home and was caught in torrential flood water! The engine completely flooded and I had to had my parents a £2000 bill to replace the engine! They were not happy bunnies! @xxfluffywhitexx on twitter

  7. Egg Hunt Payoff- When I was young, we spent a lot of time at my grandparents' house. Sometime around the beginning of March, whenever we would come my grandmother hid plastic eggs around the room. For nearly a half hour we scoured every nook and cranny for those pastel eggs.

When we'd found every last one, we would break them open and find pennys and all sorts of change. Usually, it amounted to about two or three pounds. But when you're eight, that's a small fortune. Sometimes we would even find eggs from the previous year, usually during the following summer or at Christmas.

  8. we went camping one easter weekend was suppose to be going for the full 2 days but the first night it absolutely poured with rain ,was funny because 4 of our friends tents were not that waterproof and all there stuff including there eggs were drenched ,to top it all of the rain had brought these horrible bugs out and everyone was getting bitten by them ,the next day we could have done dot to dot on our bodies lol so we decided its time to head home, apart from that it was a good night and we did say we would go again but never have, oh well the joys of camping :)

  9. My most memorable easter holiday was while we went to North Norfolk for a lovely walk along the beach, as it started off a beautiful sunny day but by the time we arrived the weather had turned very grey and miserable and as we got out the car it poured it down, so we legged it to the nearest pub instead. Once we dried off and grabbed a drink we ended up sitting at a table next to the legendary Stephen Fry! My boyfriend is a big fan of his and although we didn't want to intrude we wanted to say hello. He was so friendly and welcoming and we spent the next few hours in the company of a genuinely 'quite interesting' man!

  10. A good friend roped a few of us into going for a road trip last Easter - he'd met a girl on holiday and when he was back in the UK he decided we should all drive from Newcastle to North Wales for the weekend so he could meet up with said lady friend.
Apparently they'd exchanged addresses and she'd told him her room mates were having a party on Easter weekend - we packed the car with beer and off we went.
Unfortunately she'd not been entirely honest - the address we were given was for a ruined house in the middle of a field. We'd just driven for 7 hours, had nowhere to stay and it was extremely wet and cold!
We decided to make the most of it - drank the beer, ate the munchies we had and had the worst nights sleep ever in the car!
Safe to say we're spending it up north this year!!

  11. I remember travelling as a kid to relatives in the West Country. We drove by car and it was one of those scorching spring days (shame about this year!). This was in the days before satnav, air con and the M25 so the journey was interminably long and hot punctuated only by the occasional 'Are we there yet?' from the back seat. When we eventually got there overheated and flustered we opening the boot to find all the Easter eggs a messy pile of melted chocolate and foil.

  12. Our family has a lot of birthdays around Easter time but we still always try to get together for a big family roast at Easter. One year, over half the family went out for a Birthday meal a few days before the planned get together - they all unfortunately got food poisoning at a very well known restaurant!

We were going to cancel the big family Easter dinner but they all said they were feeling much better so we decided to go ahead. Easter arrived, picture the scene: The roast chicken and roast beef joint were ready on the table, everyone (almost) were cooing and saying they looked and smelled lovely.. I was just grabbing a big platter of Yorkshire puds and roast potatoes to bring to the table when... my cousin Rebbecca suddenly went green, and slid to the floor clutching her side in agony. She was in considerable pain for several minutes and so much so that we decided to call an ambulance. We feared that her 'food poisoning' was worse than anyone had first thought. Her Hubby got in the ambulance with her and we all piled in our cars to follow to the hospital which was some 20 minutes away. We were concerned when the ambulance suddenly put it's lights on and could be seen speeding away into the distance running red lights. We feared the worse.

When we arrived at the hospital, we were stunned but delighted to find that Rebbecca had given birth to a 6lb 2oz baby girl that she didn't even know that she was expecting! The midwife jokingly said she should be named Bunny after the Easter Bunny! Rebecca didn't like that idea and has instead named her Chloe.(but to this day, we all call her bunny anyway) lol

  14. We arranges an easter egg hunt for our kids and their friends, in the morning we hid the eggs and by the afternoon the hunt was on. After about 15 minutes the kids had a look of bitter dissapointment on thier faces because none of them had found the eggs. We thought that we were just great at hiding them. Little did we know the neighbours dog had got in and taken all the eggs and eaten them. Aventually we realised what had happened ( we saw the evidence all over next doors garden - empty easter egg wrappers) I quickly popped out got some more and easter cheer was restored! it was funny!

  15. A couple of years ago we went skiing at Easter with my brother and his family. So far, so dull....
    The problem was:
    a) the weather had been warm, (very warm), so there was very little snow left - and the beginners slopes were closed.
    b) My sister in law was a beginner - and not just a beginner, but a reluctant beginner with a fear of heights (specifically chair lifts, as we found out!)
Things were not great when we broke the news to her that she would be learning in the village above ours, and the only way to reach it was via a chair lift. Things were worse when we actually had to get her onto the mountain....
Luckily her instructor had the patience of a saint, and the strength of an ox, and was able to both coax her onto the chairlift and physically restrain her as they travelled up the mountain, accompanied by her screams...
Suffice it to say, she spent the rest of the holiday in the hot tub with a glass of wine, and we haven't broached the subject of a return trip yet!

  16. When I awoke, I was encased in darkness curled up against a hard surface. I let out a small 'hello' which echoed back at me from every angle. I sat up, placing my hands against the surface beneath me, it was smooth and seemed to react to the warmth in my hand with slight yield. I pressed against it and slowly my hand began to sink into it. I stopped, pulling my hand back and realising in this darkness, my hand was now covered in something thick, it enveloped my fingers and as I picked at it with my other hand I noticed a sweet smell hit my nostrils. I pulled my finger closer to my nose, was it this dark tomb that held me, in a solitary moment I was calmed, i sniffed my finger.. chocolate?! I'm laying on chocolate? How is this possible. I placed my tongue against my finger and tasted it, smooth, almost velvety milk chocolate. I cleaned my fingers and began pawing at the ground, pulling smaller and then larger chunks up and placing them into my mouth. Eventually I was stuffed, by out of the corner of my eye I noticed a small glint of light, like a pinprick which ever so slightly illuminated my hand. With feverish intent I pushed and pushed against the floor, moving the chocolate back and forth until the light began to stream in... With more and more movement my hands finally broke free from the base and I could see below, green soft grass! I pushed myself down against the hole, wriggling back and forth until my head was clear, eventually I pushed my shoulders out and then with a soft plop I hit the ground. My eyes closed with the sudden rush of bright light and I opened them slowly, allowing the the shift between darkness and day. To my amazement, I had been encased in a giant Easter Egg... Looking down at my hands I realised they were paws, I felt my teeth, large elongated incisors... my nose soft, wet and bunny like, my head a thick tuft of hair, ears... oh god huge ears... what was happening?!

This is when I woke up... covered in sweat, my bed awash with easter eggs and my face covered in chocolate... The easter fair we visited the day before was getting it's own back.

  17. Several years ago, when my partner and I were a relatively "new" item, we were invited to his brothers house for the Easter holidays. I packed for the long weekend, and included my new, rather raunchy, Bridget Jones style, bunny outfit, which I thought would be a great way for me to present my other half with the huge Easter egg that I'd bought for him, on Easter morning. On the Sunday morning all of his family went out for a brisk, early morning walk - I suggested that we should have a bit of a lay in... I went to the bathroom and got my bunny outfit on and surprised my partner with his "special delivery" Easter egg! It ended up as a bit of a "chase me" event, with me running, giggling and screaming down the stairs... I got to the front door, and thought that Paul would stop before I went outside, but he didn't! I ran out with him hot on my (bunny) tail! I think it was the sound of the front door slamming shut in the wind that stopped us in our tracks... Paul's brother lives in a small village, which is usually so quiet, you could go for a walk around the village without bumping into another person. On this occasion however, the little church across the road had just finished it's Easter service, and there must have been 100 or so people filing out of it! I have never felt so ashamed in my life! Neither of us had our mobile phones on us, so I had to wait, huddled in the doorway, while Paul ran to the phone box to call his brother to come home and let us back in. Mortified is not the word...!!! @beanyjojo on Twitter, thank you! :)

  19. I brought my boyfriend an Orbing experience for his birthday, Geography not being my strong point he wasn't too eager to day trip from Birmingham to Brighton! We decided to stay overnight, unfortunately hotels in Brighton have a minimum 2 night stay, so we booked a 2 night stay and set off on Friday. Traffic was horrific, we got lost-my fault, so when we finally arrived it was a cold, dark Brighton, 10.30pm we were not speaking and I went straight to bed in a huff.

Saturday we did sight seEing and went for a meal in the evening which we had prebooked as it was no 1 on a review website. I'm surprised they didn't laugh down the phone when we called to book, we were the ONLY couple in this restaurant at 8pm on a Saturday night and the food was awful. We had a few drinks and retired back to our hotel ready for orbing Sunday morning.

7am Sunday morning TEXT MESSAGE-Orbing cancelled due to windy conditions. EASTER DISASTER

  20. We had planned a fabulous lunch for Easter with Roast lamb, veg and all the trimmings. I turned around for one second to find the plate where the lamb was was empty - the lamb had gone. After a frantic search we found it in the dogs bed, she had only gone and taken the whole thing for her dinner. We ended up going to Mcdonalds..

  25. We have just moved back to the UK last year from Australia, after being away for 10 years. Usually Easter was hot and muggy down the coast. Easter Sunday we where just about to sit down for our lovely Seafood BBQ, and noticed our 4 year old was gone. After searching high and low of the park and surrounds. When then had a lady from the Club next door come and ask if we where missing a child. They found him in the section where the Pokie Machines are, trying to buy lollies. Hilarious, frightening, but it was a Easter we have never forgotten xx

Most of the time my birthday fell during the school holidays & most of my friends were away so I never had a party :-( , when I was at school, we were on a school trip & it snowed the whole time!
It's next Sunday (7th) & hubby is taking me out for a lovely meal tomorrow as my Easter & birthday meal :-)

  27. When I was in my late teens I used to go away with a group of mates on long cycling weekends, and one Easter we did one round Oxfordshire clocking up around 55 miles a day.... we decided to stop for a pub lunch and after lunch decided it would be a good idea to see if we could cycle 3 abreast (with linked arms) down a country lane.... picture me in the middle and two blokes either side of me holding my handlebars steady...well of course it ended in disaster - the pedals of one of the other bikes went into my wheel and broke alot of spokes... we all fell off... we did manage to repair the bike enough to carry on, but we were soooo late to our next stopover and missed the evening meal serving times... and ending up eating packet after packet of crisps and peanuts for dinner.... the rest of the group were not at all happy with us!

a few years ago we had arranged to go on a day trip to Blackpool with 2 other couples, we hired a minibus and the day was planned with military style, what we hadn't bargained on was the way there it somehow emerged that the man from one of the couples had been having a affair with the woman from the other couple for about 6 months..as you can imagine the rest of the journey was frosty to say the least, infact as we stopped at services it was a bit of an issue even getting them all back into the mini bus, determined to push on with the trip and make the most of it, my husband tried to lighten the mood by putting on his cd...err wrong choice as it was his country and western music and the first song was Tammy Wynette with D.I.V.O.R.C.E. And once we arrived in Blackpool we ended up leaving the arguing couples in the car park whilst we made the most of the dayby ourselves......and the journey home was awful..a stony silence with noone daring to speak incase they said the wrong thing.

  30. A year ago in April, we went on holiday to the beach. Yep. Such a lovely holiday location. It was cold, freezing, and the water stung. Of course, on holidays, something always happens that makes the whole thing priceless, and my husband always seemed to trigger that. It wasn't until the third day when the Hubbie decided to run past all of the Tents in a Easter Bunny outfit with my son, the best thing I have ever seen. We then saw him trip over the ropes holding the toilet tent up, forcing the tent to come tumbling down whilst a middle aged woman was sitting on it with a roll of toilet paper in her hand.Should of seen her face! She didn't know whether to laugh or scream.

  31. this will probably be my most memorable easter, friday my electrics all started going weird, randomly turning off but being able to turn back on. i couldnt find the cause, then saturday i find my washing machine had flooded the room, and spent the day tring to mop up the room whilst also trying to fix the problem; a burst pipe!..sunday i decided to cook a lovely roast dinner for my family, a roast lab=mb with all the trimmings, but half way through the oven decided to break so i ended up having to cook some chicken breasts on the george forman whilst pan frying the roast potatoes and having boiled veg. after all of that i couldnt wait just to sit down with a glass of wine and relax in front of a film with the family, it had been a testing few days. so i sat down and started to relax, but the dog started to whine a strange noise, i went to see what was the matter thinking he just wanted to come lay with us, and instead i discover he had brought me a dead partridge?!!!... what a weekend. to be honest i am glad it is over!

  34. My most memorable Easter Day is not one I can actually remember but one captured on an old family video where I was caught being very cheeky indeed! I must have been about 5 years old and my little brother 1 and we had all the family around for the day. My brother was proudly sat in the middle of the lounge with a vast array of easter eggs surrounding him. All the adults were chatting away in the corner of the room, all except the person behind the camcorder, who was obviously well concealed from my line of sight. In I walk looking shifty with my mouth covered in chocolate (I can only assume I had already devoured my chocolate stash)I quietly make my way to my brother and discreetly pick up an egg and hide it under my cardigan. I walk off up the stairs and seconds later return minus the egg and take another then another and another - Until my poor unwitting brother has just one left. In walks my Mum, looks at my brother and remarks "Have you eaten them all?!" He just looks up, confused without the vocabulary to express his predicament. Then crawls away, meanwhile I sit angelically on the sofa - butter wouldn't melt and comment "Mum, have I got any more Easter Eggs please?" This video will never fail to make me laugh (and feel slightly guilty) a real gem of evidence displaying my naughty young side. Its also the only family video we have of when i'm younger, so is quite a sentimental item. Easter always reminds me of that and makes me wonder what else I did which never did get caught on camera! :-)

My daughter is 2 and a half so organised an egg hunt this Easter thinking she'd might be more aware of what's going on this year. I let her play upstairs with the older kids after they'd hunted down the eggs when we heard a gushing noise. My daughter had decided to flood the bathroom! An hr later my friends son send a glass vase flying down the stairs! Not the most successful egg hunt on record! 5 days later we were still finding chocolates too!

  38. Easter 3 years ago coincided with my hubbies 40th birthday. After saving hard we splashed out on the trip of a life time to Thailand with the kids. A couple of months before we travelled my brother & fiance decided to join us and get married while we were there. Perfect! Unfortunately the evening before the wedding my hubbie got bitten by a small insect. Due to lots of celebrating and copious amounts of alcohol nobody really took any notice of his shouts and moans - after all it was a really tiny little thing! Couple of hours later, he started vomiting then collapsed unconscious. We called an ambulance, which they dont have in Thailand, so I took him in a taxi to the hospital which was an hour away, arriving only to find it was closed! They opened it up for us, and turns out he had been bitten by a poisonous centipede! We spend all night at hospital being treated, before being allowed to return to our hotel the next morning. By this time his leg was so sore and swollen he could hardly walk, but as best man he wasn't letting his brother in law down, so we showered, changed and left immediately for the wedding. Which turned out to be in a rainforest 2 hours away, with a 45 minute climb through the rain forest to the venue. We half carried, half dragged him there, dosed up on painkillers, so he could perform his best manly duties then he slept all the way home! A scary experience, which we laugh about now, along with the fact that days after this as we arrived at the airport for our journey home, the icelandic volcano had erupted, and we were all stranded in Thailand for a further 2 and a half weeks, completely spent out, and unable to fly home! What can I say - it was a memorable easter!

  39. Arrived home yesterday after spending Easter in Turkey. It was a great week but I'm still laughing about Easter day. Firstly, we were all given a painted hard boiled egg at breakfast, very kind of the owners as it is a Muslim country but confusing for the Turkish children staying in the hotel. One Turkish boy asked me if Jesus was hatched out of an egg! Later in the day as we were lying on a beach cooking in 37c when my husband suddenly shot up and started scrabbling through his bag. He had bought 2 Cadbury cream eggs with him as a surprise. We had to lick them off the wrappers warm and gooey. Later in the day we went for a walk by a river and I trod on a duck egg. I know it was a duck egg because the duck chased us along the river bank. My husband remarked on the evening that we had our eggs hard boiled, runny and scrambled this Easter.

My most memorable Easter Holiday would be when I was stuck at the Noodle Bar where I work. There were no customers as they were to busy eating their tasty Easter feasts and chocolate eggs!
It was so boring and so not worth being there!

  41. Easter Monday 2012 was memorable to me, as my first grandchild was born at 7.55 am.

  42. A trip out to a local castle with our family and my sister and her children too. A beautiful hot day several years ago now! We got there early and spied a group of people in a fenced off area of woodland, so just watched them for a while. Then later on at the Easter Egg Hunt, it happened to be the same bit of woodland - well, the kids found so many eggs, it was the best ever! Then on the Easter Egg trail, they worked out who was dropping smaller eggs and followed them secretly behind and again got loads. So it was very successful, until my niece ran across a field and didn't see a rope that was strung across, and caught herself right across the neck. Looked like someone had tried to behead her!! Anyway, a few more chocolates and all was well. It was a very memorable day and the kids had chocolate for months :)

  43. My most memorable Easter was spent in casualty. Many years ago my husband and I decided that we wouldn't tackle busy roads but just go for a lovely stroll on the coast path nearby. It was a beautiful sunny day, blue skies and lovely scenery and we stopped to admire a patch of wild primroses growing, when I took a step forward onto a mound of earth, which gaveway and I fell about 20 feet onto the beach below. Amazingly nothing was broken but I was concussed, bruised and needed stitches in my head! I spent the night in hospital with a thumping headache and only a vague memory of my day out!

  44. I used to run a youth group and we took a big group of kids away for an Easter camp. There was my lot and a few other groups of kids from nearby and we were out on an activity when we got the phone call to come back to the camp as one of the buildings had been burned down and they wanted to get to the bottom of who it was! Luckily it wasn't any of my kids, but it was an eventful Easter!

  46. I think my most disastrous Easter would have to be last Easter. As we had quite nice weather I decided to make it a bit special for the kids so invited family and a few friends over for a mini party/bbq. The kids and I had made lovely little cupcakes for everyone. We set the cupcakes on the kitchen side to cool before decorating and I sent the kids up to their rooms to get ready and to have a quick tidy up (enough time for me to go into the garden and hide their mini eggs. I put the eggs on top of my glass topped cooker and went outside into the garden to fire up the bbq and lay the table cloth. Was probably only gone 10 minutes at the most. Went back in to fetch the eggs and found they had all melted. I had heated up the babies bottle previously and obviously didn't let it cool in time :o(. If that wasn't bad enough, on my way to the bin to get rid of all the mess I caught the cake tier with my elbow which then sent them flying all over the floor. The dog made short work of them. I did feel really bad for the kids but made sure I made it up to them this Easter @Carolinehammon1 on twitter
